Sabzi week 6!
Salam Hamegi!
Another week of fresh sabzi and flowers! Orders are open until tomorrow night!
I'm excited to bring you a big bundle of both green and purple basil from Iran, delicious parsley from Iran, tarragon, and summer savory. And to top it off, baby Persian cucumbers!
This week's Daste Gol will also look similar to last week's (which were real winners), composed of orange marigolds and fuzzy, violet lupines. There will be big dill flowers, and maybe nigella seed pods and other goodies sprinkled in.
Yesterday at the farm, we started harvesting fenugreek seed. We took a deep breath before we started pulling plants to dry. It felt significant to be pulling the first seeds off of the farm. Saving seed is equivalent to saying, "we'll need this next year when we grow more fenugreek from Iran." So, I guess that means I'm getting ready to farm again next year. Which is really exciting! Here's a photo of the fenugreek drying down in my little greenhouse.
For those taking notes, you know that seed-harvest season means that fresh-herb-harvest season is coming to a close soon. So please be sure to order sabzi while you can! Maybe you could pick some up for the mehmooni you're going to this weekend! Maybe you could gift a little bouquet of flowers to your friend or neighbor! These bunches are meant to be spread across your sofreh and shared.
Thank you for reading! As a treat, here's a picture of silly Memo relaxing in a too-small basket.
Be omide didar,
Farmer Sama :)
